Things to do

We are in a fabulous location with a wealth of breathtaking walking and cycling routes, gorgeous renowned gastropubs and eating places, fascinating historical heritage sites, charming shopping places and lovely local pubs all within easy reach. We've listed some below, but are more than happy to help you plan day trips and have a range of walking books and maps we are happy to lend you. As parents of small children we are also able to recommend lots of child and family friendly places and activities.

Abergavenny: A pretty market town, 5 miles to the south. The food capital of Wales it has a renowned Food Festival every August and a bustling farmers market. There is a swimming pool, cinema, independent shops, soft play, climbing wall and fabulous cafes.

Hay-on-Wye: The literary capital of the UK. This lovely small town plays host to the UK’s foremost book festival every summer and is a beautiful place for a day trip, just for browsing it's many shops, book and otherwise!

Hereford: A lovely historic Cathedral City located approx. 20 miles away. It has a good range of independent shops and charming cafes, (Rocket is a particular favourite), the beautiful cathedral is worth a visit.

Cardiff: The Welsh Capital has great shopping, all the amenities you would expect from a large city. Visit the Wales Millennium Centre, Doctor Who Experience, Techniquest or take a boat across the Bay.

Pubs

There are three pubs within a short walk of the site: The Rising Sun Inn, The Old Pandy Inn and The historic Skirrid Mountain Inn.

Within a five minute drive the charming Carpenter's Arms and The Hunter's Moon Inn at Llangattock Lingoed are great spots for dinner or a pint.
